Community Development

Updated: Aug 12

“If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’ but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself. But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith from my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe—and they shudder.” — James 2:15-19

The people of Myanmar face significant hardships in sustaining their daily lives as well as their spiritual lives. Preaching the gospel alone is not enough; we also need to uplift their lives. We cannot simply preach about being warm without providing clothing. Faith in action is essential when sharing the gospel and following up with our community.

If someone believes in Christ and attends church on Sundays but experiences no blessings or offerings and only suffers, what good is it? Our vision is for every member to have something to do to sustain their daily lives. This project is a significant task and requires a lot of prayers. One of our past projects was a tailoring course, where we provided sewing machines to five women.

This project was offered by one of my professors in Bible school to Burma in 2022.

We bought five sewing machines for training. The duration was 2-3 months, and each person received their own brand-new sewing machine. They learned how to sew clothes for babies, husbands, and themselves. This training led some to secure jobs in the tailoring industry. They are truly happy, and it has made their lives more sustainable.

Another example is cultivating mushrooms, which requires space and land.

Some Buddhist families with capital and space cultivate mushrooms for their family’s sustenance.

Additionally, we could provide a mini project for water filters (or water purifiers). Many people could join the work, sell the service, and get paid. There are many possible ways to help sustain families and communities. As the country worsens and many people suffer to survive, we can travel to rural villages, educate families, and provide necessities.

The people of Myanmar need development in their spiritual and personal survival. Above all, they need to receive Christ as Savior, which is the most important thing in life. We preach the gospel and promote community development. We aim to extend help to believers and the community, enabling them to sustain themselves with godly work. In this way, many people can understand the mercy, grace, compassion, and love we preach through the gospel. Let us practice our faith in action!

Therefore, this ministry is a proposed project, and we ask any organizations and individuals to partner with us and make it happen to be the light of Christ to transform the community.

Thank you, and may the Lord bless you!
