Welcome to Living Stream Ministries. First of all, thank you for visiting our page. We would like to provide an overview of our ministry. The Lord has blessed us to work for His ministry despite the many challenges in our country.
The ministry was established by Pastor Mei, in response to a God-given vision to act in faith. Pastor Mei has been in full-time ministry since 2014, initially serving as a church assistant. After further studies, he reentered in 2018 as an associate pastor. Following the Lord's call to act on faith for a specific ministry, this ministry was officially established in recent year. The activities posted on this page include both our current endeavors and past events.
While our ministries are not yet fully operational, we are actively seeking partners to assist us. We currently have eight ministries and welcome any organization or individual who wishes to collaborate with us in areas such as church, children’s programs, Sunday school, medical outreach, and more. This year, we have also taken a leap of faith by adopting five children, all of whom live with us in a rented home. Pastor Mei works as a Burmese Christian translator, which provides some income, but it is not a stable source of support.
Our urgent prayer is to have a ministry campus where we can gather as a church, live with the children, and carry out our activities. Below, we present each of our ministries in detail:
Church Planting Ministry
Firstly, our call to serve is to plant the church and send out missionaries. We are just starting and, in the meantime, facing challenges. Initially, we started the church with just the pastor's family and a few invited Bible students. Gradually, more people joined. However, the landlord did not want his home to be used for Christian services and gatherings, and we were asked to leave. We found another location, but it was far from our members, so we had to restart in a new location.
Currently, we hold devotional services at home frequently and attend other churches for fellowship since we don’t have a stable campus. Despite these difficulties, our mission remains unwavering in its commitment to bringing the light of Christ to those who have yet to hear His message. Therefore, we pray to partner with a church that can stand with us.
2. Outreach Ministry
Christians make up a minority in Myanmar, constituting 8% of the population, while Buddhism holds the majority influence. Therefore, an evangelistic ministry plays a crucial role. We acknowledge that more funds and resources are needed to effectively reach out to people. For example, during house visitations, when we encounter someone who is sick or without food, we need to show our compassion in practical ways. We engage in various forms of evangelism, including individual outreach, group outreach, Christmas outreach, feeding the needy, children's camps or summer camps, sharing groceries with those in need, and preaching to those who have not yet heard of Christ.
These activities encompass both our current efforts and past initiatives. We need partners for this ministry in every aspect to support our evangelism work.
3. Children & Education Ministry
The children's ministry has been on Pastor Mei's heart since he attended Bible college in 2012. He loves kids, and every time he meets a child in need, his heart breaks. Currently, we have five orphans in our care. We see many orphans left behind after crises, and we feel compelled to adopt them, but we cannot take in more children due to a lack of resources. Even now, translation work has been a means of survival for us.
Our aim is not only to provide for their physical needs but also to build a strong educational foundation and nurture them in the ways of God. This ministry requires a partner, and we invite you to serve together with us.
4. Sunday School Ministry
This ministry emerged from the heart and vision of Pastor Mei. For many years, Pastor Mei has been burdened for Sunday School ministry. He experienced a nominal Christian life for many years and only fully came to know God’s saving grace in his youth due to the lack of Sunday school classes at his church. We also see a lack of Sunday school classes for children in numerous rural villages and churches across Myanmar, making them less exposed to God's Word. We desire to partner with international Sunday school ministries, translate curriculum and animations, and provide them to churches in Myanmar. Additionally, we hope to train Sunday school teachers and create engaging video content to capture the attention of children, fostering a love for God and His Word.
Therefore, if you are interested in working for Sunday school ministry or know someone who is, please join us.
5. Literature Ministry
Our literature ministry has sustained us through difficult times in Myanmar. Pastor Mei has been in the Christian translation field since 2016 and has translated numerous Christian books, volumes, articles, contents, video scripts, and voice-overs. He also works as a reviewer, proofreader, and editor.
With God’s help, whenever a small project was offered, he faithfully worked on it, and it has sustained our ministry. It was a paid job, but he considers it a way to serve God in his own literature ministry. Besides this, we translate gospel tracts, write our own scripts, and print out 2,000 copies each time. We distribute these to individuals and churches in Yangon and across Myanmar. We invite anyone willing to translate their books into Burmese to hire us.
We also have ministries (projects) that have not yet started:
6. Pre-School Ministry
This ministry is written in a separate article.
7. Medical Project
This ministry is written in a separate article.
8. Community Development
This ministry is written in a separate article.
Therefore, our conclusion is that as God lets us start, and we believe He will enable us to run the race until the end. In the meantime, we invite everyone, both individuals and organizations, to partner with us.
May the Lord bless whoever read our message!
Blessings,
Myanmar Ministry & Orphans
